Daily Condition of My Room

Hello! Last post for today, current condition of my room! hehe, almost always studying in front of my laptop, but you know it's hard to concentrate when your laptop is connected with a super fast wifi connection (I almost always ended up watching youtube and googling some random things) So me & my friends have made some decisions. On Friday and Saturday night. We will study together in library or in Learning Zone so we can study properly without any other distractions. hehe, we just tried last Saturday in the library until 12 pm. And it works! I didn't bring my laptop so we can study quietly without any distractions, not like in our own room, hahah,, :D

I'm not ready for November!!

First of all, Good Night and Happy Halloween ppl!
Hmmm, how's our week so far guys? This week is kinda awful for me. :(
Just heard a very bad news from my sister this morning. And that problem can't get out from my head til now, then I have a lots of things to do for my coursework.
My tutor just give the details about our coursework this Monday, and asked us to submit it on 8th November. Can you believe it? We only have 10 days to do that coursework in group! She supposed to give the details since last week, but she's late and now we have to do it in a rush. Though next Monday and Tuesday is holiday. We still have many many homeworks. I have to make my first draft for FES essay, FES homeworks, Math homeworks, BS1's business plan and the presentation as well.
And, the due date for BS1's coursework and FES's first draft is on the same day! I feel like gonna die soon :s

You know, when you feel bad, and when you look out there and the weather is awful. You'll feel totally worse! It's very gloomy in here. Very cold, and it's getting colder and colder from day to day. No sun. I wish I was in Jakarta, when I'm sad at least when I see out there there is sun who is still shining brightly and give me strength. Here? The rain just can make me feel even worse :s

And, it's getting colder and colder nowadays, I have no proper jackets. I want to buy but it's expensive. I have to save money in here, so I totally can't buy all things I want and spend all the money that easily.

My tutor have ever told me a few weeks ago that November is a really stressful month or some international new student in Lancaster. Cause we have a lot of works to do, and the weather is awful, we started to think back about our hometown all the time. Everything seems just getting worse, like what I feel right now :s

Well, I'm feeling totally bad right now. I have to think about all of my assignments, think about my family, think about my sister's problem, think about money and all my expenses here, and thinking about the weather when I have no proper jacket to welcoming winter.

I have no one to talk about all of this problems, and so I just can leave all of my confession in here, which is my personal blog. If you know my twitter account, I started to tweet some unimportant tweets to confess my feeling. Well that's me, when I tweet a lot, it means I am sad at that moment. When I tweet nothing and just retweet other ppl's tweet. It means I'm totally fine. Can't bear to tweet those silly sad words although I know it will make some ppl feel irritated. Well, sorry if you guys feel so, but I totally have no other way to confess my feeling right now.

I have my friends in here though, and they're having some other problems as well, with their classmates, etc. It makes me awake and make me feel a little bit better. Cause by hearing their not very good story, I know that, it's not just me who is feeling bad right now. Some other ppl feels like that too and yeah, I'm not alone. So, let's just think positive. I hope I can solve all of these problems as soon as possible.

Just can work harder and hope everything's gonna be fine at the end. (Amen) This 2 weeks is gonna be quite tough for me. Started to get busier and busier. Hope I can do my best to pass all of this too complicated things.

So, hello November!!! Usually I always feel excited when welcoming November and December cause it's getting closer to the end of the year. But now? No I'm not excited as well. I can't welcoming November nicely because of the weather, lol. Seriously I'm not ready for the end of autumn especially winter :(

Hm,, that's all, well just ignore this post guys, all of this words are simply about my not really important confession. Let's work hard to make everything better. Just like my sister (Evelyn) said

"It can be done. It must be done."

My advise : when you feel bad, down, depressed (just like my feeling right now). Go out and talk to your friends, when you found out that other ppl are having problems as well. You'll realize that you're not the only one who is down right now.

It's normal to be stress and down. But you should know how to get up too, to work harder and harder then to solve all your problems. Well, this is life. There are blessings, but there are problems too. You can feel very bad, but you can get up and feel happy again. Just like a roller coaster. Life's all about up and down.

Just like TOP's rap in "STILL ALIVE" song

"We're living that, we're living that GOOD LIFE"

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's learning how to dance in the rain!"

"I'm not okay, you're not okay, and that's okay!!!"

Social Life in Lancaster

I'm studying my foundation year right now. And so my classmate are all from different non-english speaking country where 80% of them come from China and HK :)

Well, the foundation year students this year are being divided into groups consist of 19-20 people (just like class). And I get into Group A.

Group A. there are 19 people in this group.12 of them are from China & Hong Kong. 10 boys and 9 girls. From 9 girls. Only me and a vietnamese girl who don't dome from China & HK. The other 7 girls? Ya, all of them come from China & HK and always talk in a language that I don't understand. :p The boys? hmm there's a boy from Bahrain, Malaysia, India, and 2 from Russia. And the other 5? yes they're all from China or HK. So, you can imagine at class they almost always speak in chinese with their friends. :s

Well the funny thing is, when I first arrive in here, I have no friends at all. My flatmates are mostly British people and they directly go to the university, not like me. So it's hard for me to find a friend especially we haven't started the course at that time.

Just so you know, there are a lot of chinese people. You can meet them everywhere. It's not that I don't want to be or I can't be their friends. It's just they don't really want to be a friend who can't speak in chinese like me. When I meet them on the street, they'll come to me to ask about something in chinese, and when I said "I'm not chinese" they'll just go aways without saying a word :s

It's true and it doesn't happen only once. Almost all people think I come from China, or Hong Kong. And they'll greet me in chinese, and when I didn't understand and answer in english. They'll go away just like that. Especially during the freshers week. In one day about 5 or 6 chinese come to me, then go away just like that.

Back to my story about friend. Luckily, on Sunday, (I arrive on Saturday) a girl next to my door just arrive from Vietnam, and she's in the same course as mine. Business & Management Foundation year. She's my first and only friend for about 3-4 days, and she hasn't had any friend as well at that time, lol! Oh ya, her name is Trang :)

And one day during freshers, me & Trang go to the bank together to make a bank account. In the queue, a girl in front of us ask me (in chinese) "ni shi zhong guo ren ma?" and so I said "no I'm not chinese"
She replied "where do you come from?" I answered "Indonesia"
And that girl answered happily "aku dari indo juga!" (I'm from Indonesia too)

Lol I met the one and only indonesian girl in this foundation year randomly at the bank. I never thought there will be another Indonesian in Lancaster so I never even hope to meet them. And hoila! I met her randomly at the bank. lol :) So 3 of us become good friends. We cook dinner together and do groceries together as well every Sat. Oh ya, the Indonesian girl's name is Chery :)

But three of us are divided into different groups, so at class. I become friend with the other chinese girl. They're nice :) the boys are nice as well. My group is quite exciting.

Me, Trang, and Chery

We have 3 subjects this term. FES1 (english), math, and business studies 1. The subjects are not really difficult and we only study for 15 hours in a week. So I hope I can do well in this foundation year. So I can be accepted in LUMS :)

My room at Bowland College

Here's some picture of my bedroom. My room is not big but it's comfortable enough. Sorry if it's a little bit untidy, heheh.. :p
My address in here is B14 Slaidburn House, Bowland College, Lancaster University, LA14, Lancaster, Lancashire, UK. (don't forget to write my name if you want to send me a letter/package, hehe. :p  my name is the most important thing, Jeslyne Ho.)

My room is an ensuite room. The difference with standard rooms is only the toilet. (Standard rooms have to share toilet & bathroom) We use the kitchen together with our flatmates (about 6-7 people). Each kitchen has 2 refrigerator, Microwave, vacuum cleaner, etc.
Oh yeah. We have no limit to use the water and electricity. And we have a telephone as well to call other people's rooms even in different colleges (each room has its external number) and an unlimited free very fast internet access too. Very good, right? hehe..

Gloomy Sunday in Lancaster

Hello again people!

I'm about to finish this not very good Sunday. Just finished doing almost all of my homework, but still feel bad because too many unlikely things just happened today :(

1.) My mobile phone is broken since last night
2.) Tried a lot of ways to fix it but only make it worse. Ended up losing all contact on that phone and the bbm contact as well.
3.) It's raining all day long. Yes, since early in the morning until now. So I just stay in my building for a whole day.
4.) I can't call my mom. You know, when you feel bad. There are few people who can calm you down simply just by hearing their voice. For me, that person is my mom, hehe.

But, let's just forget about the bad things, there are some good things happened as well today. :)
1.) Yoris read my post about him and reply my tweet (again)!
Hehe, how silly I am, happy because of this kind of small things. Well it's funny sometimes how little simple things can suddenly turn up your mood and make you feel really happy. I absolutely know how it feels cause it happened to me quite often, lol.
2.) And, I'm almost done with all of my homeworks for tomorrow. Done with the math hw. And almost finish the outline for FES essay.
3.) My friend just comeback from Manchester and bought a bread for me <3 so blessed to have good friends around us :)
4.) Me & friends are planning to go to Edinburgh or the other city next week. So hopefully we can get a cheap ticket so we can travel and take a lot of beautiful photos.

Well, God is good. After all of the unlucky accidents, He gives me some happiness as well for today. :)
Just like Sidney Mohede's word. GRATEFUL!!! :D

The weather is so bad today. It's still raining even until now. I hope it won't be very cold tomorrow. :)
And so, good night world! Gotta upload another post soon then go to bed and get ready for Monday!

Wish List & Inspiring People

If you ask someone, what is your goal in life? What do you want to achieve in life? Maybe most of them will answer like have a wealthy business, have a good little family, have a better life, and anything else which is better than their own life right now.

Well I have lots of dreams and wishes as well. Not just for 8-10 years ahead, such as have a good position in an international financial company. But I want to make a list from my closest dream which I can achieve from now. And here it is :

1. Reach high or at least high enough score in my foundation year.
2. Accepted in LUMS and get into the right degree (finance? management? acc & finance?)
3. Graduated from LUMS
4. Continue postgraduate for a year in Rotterdam School of Management (one of the best business school in the world)
5. Comeback to Indonesia, have a good job.
6. Make my parents happy
7. Find someone right and build a good family.

All of my dreams are totally not easy to reach, I know. But, let's just live this life with lots and lots positive thinking so we can enjoy it! ;;)

In life I met a lot of inspiring people. Them who I have ever really met in real life or them who I just can see in television. And here are some inspiring people for me :

1.Yoris Sebastian
I first read his blog since about 2008 (I don't really remember). At that time he's not really famous (like now) but after once I read his blog, I really like this person because of his critical thinking which is always out of the box. Yoris doesn't have a proper degree but he becomes a successful Hard Rock Cafe manager in his 26. I'm a regular reader of his blog at that time. I don't really know who is he but I admire his critical and creative way of think.
He always up to date and really aware to all what's happening around him and can wrap it into something useful and inspiring.  I remember his posts always give me new knowledge. And give me strength to never quit dreaming and trying to achieve something higher :)
He's now a leader of OMG consulting, a public speaker, and a creative writer as well. And, you know what. He's a really friendly man too. I met him in a mall in Jakarta but I'm not sure if it is really him. So I randomly asked him via twitter without expecting he'll answer. Then, he answered me in a very friendly way!!! :D lol. (ps : he's more handsome in reality than in picture)
Well now Yoris is really famous, not like the first time I know him, hehe. He's well known as a creative public speaker. I'm really looking forward to attend his seminar someday.
And here's the link for his blog. Do check it out! http://yorissebastian.com/

2. Haikal Bekti Anggoro
Haikal is my senior at Lancaster University from Indonesia. He's a really friendly and easy going guy. He was the president of Indonesian Society in Lancaster. So he's really active in a lot of activities about charity, arts, and other event about Indonesia and other international events as well. He has a good leadership, teamwork, and communication ability. And so since I'm not that good in that things, he become my inspiration to become more active in a society, and I have learned a lot from him. :)

Oh yeah, talking about education. Last night I had dinner with Indonesian society in Lancaster. There are about 20 Indonesian ppl in here. But most of them are Phd or postgraduate student. Only me & Chery who are in foundation year (we're a new comer, lol), and 4 other who are having undergraduate. The others are doing research for Phd and master. And most of them are women who loves to study even though they had already built a family and have son/daughter.

Well some people said that women don't need to get a really high education (until master or Phd) because at the end women will simply build a family and serve her husband and children. I hate this way of think seriously. Some of my friends too, when I told them that my dream is to have my postgraduate in Rotterdam. They'd say like "ohh we're women. There's no need to achieve a really high degree in education. Undergraduate is enough."

I don't really agree with that opinion, it's a really old way of thinking for me. I met some Phd student here, and most of them like have their undergraduate in Indonesia, then postgraduate in US, or UK, or other country then continue in another city/country again for Phd. They have a lot of experiences and make a lot of friends from that. They're smart. Have a lot of knowledge. They're a wife and mother as well but it doesn't mean it can stop their passion to study.

Still, for me education is really important, so as long as we have a chance to do it, why not? Don't stop just because we're a woman. We live in a modern life right now. Meeting them makes me become more excited to do my best in my study.
