Lancaster is a small city located in North West England. If you're looking for it in the UK map. I'm afraid you won't be able to find it :p lol. But you can find a city named 'Blackpool' and Lancaster is about near that area. This city is lovely, the air is fresh, it's green everywhere and you can see some cows and sheeps in the suburb area. Lancaster has no mall. But there's a street where there are a lot of stores in the city centre. There are Mark&Spencer, NEXT, Topshop, Wikinson, BHS, New Look, etc. And on Wednesday and Saturday. It's market day. So you can buy vegetables, fruits, and foods on the street fresh from local farmers in stalls.
I live on campus so I go to city centre every Saturday with friends to buy fruits and do groceries in Sainsbury's. It takes about 10 minutes from university to city centre and the cost of ticket is 2.30 gbp for return ticket.
Lancaster is one of the greenest city in the UK. It has no airport, only bus and train station. The nearest big city from Lanc is Manchester. Only 2 hour by train and it might cost you about 15 gbp for return journey. To London, it takes about 2-3 hour by one of the fastest train. and it cost about 70 gbp for return ticket.
Here's some pictures of Lancaster, sorry cause I didn't have many of them :)

Next, my campus. Lancaster University!!!
Lancaster University is HUGE. It is located in the suburb area of Lancaster. And it consists of 9 colleges where the students live in. Bowland, Pendle, Grizedale, County, Lonsdale, Furness, Fylde, Cartmel, and Graduate College. It is unique because only few universities in the UK still use this colleges system other than Cambridge and Oxford. If you're still confuse, remember Harry Potter movie where there are Gryffindor and Slytherin college? Colleges in Lancaster University are simply like that. And each college has its own bar and common room which is located in different area in the campus.
I live in Bowland College this year. it's quite confinient because Bowland is near to Alexandra Square. Alexandra Square is like the centre of the university. Banks, bookstore, library, learning zone, ice cream shop, etc are located around Alexandra Square.
Learning Zone. A cozy 24 hour place to study.

There are some restaurants as well in campus but they are quite boring (for me), lol. Well compare to cities in Indonesia. Lancaster is just a village. But I could said Lancaster is a great place to study.
We have almost unlimited free high speed internet access in almost every colleges. And there is a telephone which is free to use so we can talk with our friends in other colleges (which is far from your place) for hours. And, the security system in every building/floors. Not everyone can get in into other's building. It is protected by censor and only students who live in that floor and building who can have access to get in. It's safe to walk around at night or midnight as well.
So, that is Lancaster and the university.
Cheers from Lancaster,
Jeslyne =)
